FAQs

I cannot get about easily and don't like troubling others. Can I have a home visit and how much will it cost?

We are happy to visit you in your home at no extra cost.

I work full time. Can I have an appointment before 9.00am or after 5.00pm

Our Milnthorpe office opens each weekday at 8.00am but we are happy to make an appointment for you before 9.00 or after 5.00 at any of our offices.

In addition, our Milnthorpe and Bare offices are open every Saturday morning if that is more convenient.

I can buy a pack showing me how to make a Will from my local stationers. I know what I want the will to say. Why should I pay for a solicitor?

You are not paying just for the document. You are paying for the advice. A Will is often not straightforward and there may be things you have not considered, such as inheritance tax liability, protection of assets for future generations and the risk of claims against your estate. Often, taking advice in relation to your Will can save your family potential tax liability, prevent the loss of family assets and provide protection against claims on your estate.

I want to move house quickly but I am concerned about whether my file will be dealt with whilst my solicitor is on holiday.

At Wright & Lord, we have several solicitors in each department who can deal with your matter. You can rest assured that even if your solicitor goes on holiday, there will always be another solicitor available to provide cover who is fully briefed and up to speed on your file to deal with your matter in their absence.

My mortgage lender says I must use a firm that is accredited with the Conveyancing Quality Scheme. Can I use Wright & Lord?

Yes. Wright & Lord have been accredited with the Conveyancing Quality Scheme accreditation since its inception. All solicitors and legal assistants working within the conveyancing department undertake the necessary courses and examinations each year to ensure your conveyancing work is dealt with to the highest standard.

How much does it cost to see a solicitor?

The majority of work we undertake can be carried out on a fixed fee basis. You will be provided with a price at the start of your matter so there should not be any unforeseen costs. If a fixed fee is unable to be given, we will give you an estimate of our legal costs and continually review this throughout your matter.
