Wright & Lord Solicitors saw their name up in lights once again this month (January 2010) two and a half years after their shirt sponsorship deal with Morecambe FC came to an end.
That sponsorship deal, which lasted three years, (and during which time Morecambe played in six live televised matches) culminated in their historic win at Wembley in May 2007 when The Shrimps gained promotion to the Football League for the first time in their history.
Over the last few months, the international kit manufacturer Umbro, who made all of the shirts during Wright & Lord’s sponsorship of Morecambe FC, ran a poll on the internet amongst all football fans around the world to decide which Umbro shirt in the last decade should be awarded the accolade of best Umbro shirt of the noughties.
The iconic blue Morecambe shirt bearing the sponsor’s name, Wright & Lord Solicitors, was nominated to compete against a variety of England, Chelsea, Manchester City and other shirts produced by the company in the last ten years. The surprise winner was the 2006/2007 blue Wright & Lord Morecambe shirt which we are pleased to say beat the current England shirt and current Manchester City shirt in the final by a margin of just six votes.
